Dr. Hopper's Poems

Blessing

Take a break from the fight.

Sleep of reason in the night.

Solid dreams that stick out.

Cries bring a joyous shout.

Who calls this child to walk?

How does he learn to talk?

A soul filled with love

Called to dance from above.

Sidewalk surfing before one

Others develop while he is done.

Radiating unconditional love

A shining light from above.

The model of being selfless

The world renders him helpless.

Always a shiny, happy smile

To warm hearts for awhile

Dancing to the rhythm of life

While trapped in a world of strife.

Loving dream operator

Five year-old philosopher.

Why was it so hard to understand?

All we had to do was take your hand.

What does a loving child know?

Reject it until you grow.

Advanced beyond all others

Causes a pain that smothers.

In a world full of sin

Losing my religion.

Keep dancing on the fire

Love always leads to ire.

A spirit leaves us

Riding the blue bus.

From chaos comes order

Shadows line the border.

A shiny happy spirit does stay

From its' breath , the trees will sway.

The soul of a son does sing

That God gave us a blessing.

Vivid images of his art

Forever young and in our heart.

La Belle Perle du Bayou

Who is that standing there?

Mon jolie, petite cher.

Glass tells us of liquid days

Love finds a way through the maze.

A love supreme?

Or just a dream?

La Belle Perle du Bayou

A crystal ship sets sail,

The storms begin to hail.

A love yields to such devotion,

A heart beats in solid motion.

Eyes that do not see,

Answers lie in we.

La Belle Perle du Bayou

My crystal heart-soul sails far away,

Perhaps to return another day.

Neotantra across the land,

While catching teardrops in my hand.

Love that will never die,

While oceans ask me why.

La Belle Perle du Bayou.

Asking why you're not with me now,

Teaches me the way of the Tao.

The burning pain of desire,

Teaches me to dance on fire.

Oh God, why must I live without her?

Teaches me the art of surrender.

La Belle Perle du Bayou.

 Will we ever be together?

My heart as light as a feather.

Undaunting friendship is the start,

Teaches me about the good-heart.

Wondering if you will be mine?

Teaches there's no such thing as time.

La Belle Perle du Bayou.

Still Motion from Liquid Days

From the cold season

Comes sleep of reason.

Dreams dancing in broad daylight

After the fire in the night.

Home of Elvis and the ancient Greeks

Trails of tears and halls that do not speak.

365º through the maze

Still motion from liquid days.

Pretend to know that person

Eyes that light up from the sun.

Trembling hands pray the knife does fall

Shadow puppets are too weak and small.

Branches reach out in solid motion

Spirit guides teach of love and devotion.

410º through the maze

Still motion from liquid days.

From grass that reaches for the sky

To life filled with wonder and why.

How many people do you think I am?

Fear of life and peanut butter and jam.

Hearts and minds torn apart

Acceptance in the heart.

455º through the maze

Still motion from liquid days.

Angles and curves within a straight line

Transubstantiation of the mind.

Stories of the journey to the stick

Rivers of words soon will heal the sick.

Heaven's tears cry another season

Lead again to the sleep of reason.

480º through the maze

Still motion from liquid days.

From a journey filled with strife

Comes joy brought by a new life.

While a heart soul swims to the moon

The circle of life ends too soon.

Surrender the angels do sing

That everything is a blessing.

540º through the maze

Still motion from liquid days.

What pain could be this hell?

Blessings to rid the shell.

What soul flower next will sound?

As water flows under ground.

What next from the sleep of reason?

Perhaps spring will be the season.

610º through the maze

Still motion from liquid days.

Where is the Flower of My Soul?

A small house is warmer

 and contains more of everything.

It takes universal power

 to make a flower sing.

A smile that sings the beautiful,

sweet heart sounds of cellos.

Stormy days that are warmed

by the sunshine of your hellos.

The scent of roses

when I look into your eyes.

Transform dark, empty sadness

into sapphire skies.

Framed by the night,

touched by your grace

Imprisoned

by your love embrace.

Where is the flower of my soul?

A tiny blemish

is the ultimate perfection.

While the path of evil

is physical perception.

A body treated as a temple

A building with essence so simple.

Though the mind has infinite power

Nothing is as strong as the flower.

Fire from what you believe

Answers you will not leave.

Where is the flower of my soul?

A physical wonderland of discovery

A mind that is an ocean full of mystery.

The world revolves about the curve of your hips

Multiverses warmed by your porcelain lips.

The end of the road is eternity

Your eyes open doors to infinity.

A life journey so finite

Neotantra in the night.

Where is the flower of my soul?

Hurricanes borne of a butterflies' wing

From the sleep of reason, a life does sing.

Dreams dance in broad daylight may it seem

Or just another butterflies' dream?

Is it possible without a wife

To complete a full circle of life?

A heart that is borne with a hole

From the pedal, a bud will sough.

Where is the flower of my soul?

Beautiful Flower, Joy of My Life

One day in the life of a lonely soul

A beautiful flower blooms in my heart

Joy replaces the dark emptiness

A reason to live

A reason to love

Precious gift from God

Beautiful flower, joy of my life.

Your smile warms my very soul

Your kiss fills me with desire

Passion unites two hearts as one

A reason to live

A reason to be

Precious gift from God

Beautiful flower, joy of my life.

As day must give way to night

And spring must yield to fall

My heart must bow to sorrow

A reason to live

A reason to try

Precious gift from God

Beautiful flower, joy of my life.

My heart yearns for your return

My soul aches with desire

Lonely passion greets the pale moonlight

A reason to live

A reason to hope

Precious gift from God

Beautiful flower, joy of my life.

It was better to have lost your love

Than to never have loved you at all

My soul craves the joy you gave

A reason to live

A reason to pray

Precious gift from God

Beautiful flower, joy of my life.

Awaiting the dawn of a new day

Anticipating the arrival of spring

A chance to live again

A reason for life

A reason for love

Precious gift from God

Beautiful flower, joy of my life.
