EMT Challenge Case
Case: Severe abdominal pain
This patient is too
intoxicated to provide a reliable history, but he is complaining of severe
rectal and lower abdominal pain for two hours. Someone called 911 for him but
when you arrive at the scene, he is alone and quite intoxicated. Despite his
diminished LOC due to alcohol, he exhibits distinct pain upon gentle palpation
of the lower, middle abdomen. As stated, he is too intoxicated to give you a
reliable medical or SAMPLE history. No visible signs of bleeding or of any
wounds. You are unable to ascertain anything abnormal aside from his severe
abdominal pain and intoxication.
